  • John Waters

    Lead Pastor

John has a passion for people and for helping them to have a growing relationship with Christ. He grew up in Statesboro, Georgia, and worked in the business world for several years before the Lord called him into ministry. John earned his Master of Arts in Christian Education at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and then served as a youth pastor in Cleveland, Tennessee for 9 years. He then served as Associate Pastor in North Augusta, South Carolina, before returning to “God’s Country” in east Tennessee to serve as Lead Pastor at ChristWay in July of 2006. John is madly in love with his wife, Angie, who supports him in ministry, and he’s proud of his two sons, Mitchell and Matthew. John enjoys working out, skydiving, riding roller coasters, flipping houses and even watching the grass grow!

    Minister to HIGH SCHOOL Students

Born and raised on a dairy farm just north of Cleveland, TN, Matt has been serving students since his freshman year in college. He graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a degree in Psychology and began serving as a student minister in Cleveland. Three years later, Matt moved to Louisiana to attend New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. While finishing out his Master of Arts in Christian Education at NOBTS, he was a member of an incredible student ministry staff in Mobile, Alabama. In 2006, he moved back to this area after a sudden illness in his family. Matt joined the team here at ChristWay in the fall of 2009. He and his extraordinary wife, Jennifer, both enjoy running, hiking in the Smokies, discovering amusement parks with gigantic roller coasters, attending sporting events together, and most of all, their new daughter, Anna Kate!

  • josh doremus

    worship leader

Josh was born in East Ridge (apparently that's a big deal and explains a lot!) and grew up right here in the Chattanooga area. Josh was called to ministry in the year 2000 at a Y2K student event. He has served as a youth group leader, performed in the band "Duration," graduated from Covington Seminary and helped to plant a church in Knoxville before returning home to ChristWay. Though he is embarrassed to admit it, Josh loves bowling and gaming. He is married to Taylor and they are enjoying their daughter, Bralyn.

Capturing children's hearts for Jesus in an environment that is fun and energetic is Courtney’s passion. With a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Ohio State University, she was preparing to teach elementary school. God had other plans and led her to keep getting more involved at ChristWay. Courtney loves seeing children excited about coming to church and learning that God loves them and can do anything. She is so proud to be on this journey with her husband Forrest (who also serves in children's ministry), and their two boys, Benjamin and Gabriel.  Courtney enjoys reading, baking, and biking with her boys.

Matthew has been serving students since his freshman year in college. He graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a degree in business in May of 2015 and then joined the team at ChristWay in February of 2016. Matthew loves working with students, running, cooking and going on random adventures. He dislikes writing about himself and that is why he has the shortest bio on this page.

    Email Matthew.

Dianna is a Bradley county native who spent 14 years in the banking world. In 1993, she felt called to ministry and spent the next 18 years as a Children’s Minister before joining the ChristWay team in February 2012. She has always had a passion for helping people find their place of service in the local church and her position as Life Groups and Connections at ChristWay allows her to do that while also helping people find a Life Group “to do life” with. Dianna and her husband, Tim, live in Cleveland near their two adult children. As empty nesters, they enjoy traveling together. She is an avid scrapbooker and Tim enjoys all projects wood related, including flipping houses, but their most rewarding “hobby” is spending time with their grandchildren.

Neal enjoys wearing headphones that are way too big for his head and he doesn't really look like the guy in this picture anymore thanks to his fabulous beard. His wife is very patient. His kids are first rate. Aside from his creative and technical endeavors at the church, he also enjoys epic family adventures. He's a fabulous dancer, an amateur apiarist, a semi-pro geologist and this is the last time we let him write his own bio.

    graphic MEDIA

What began as Angie simply being a helpmate to her husband grew into the position of ministy assistant where her almost compulsive attention to details spurs her to excellence in our church communications. She has a degree in printing management from Georgia Southern University, and she is constantly striving to improve her graphic design abilities. Angie also has a heart for missions and helps lead several international mission projects each year. She is married to her best friend, John, and they have adult children--Matthew, Mitchell and his lovely wife, Liz.

Beth is originally from Alabama where she met and married “the absolute love of her life." She and Kevin have been married over 30 years and are now empty-nesters due to three happily married children. Their joy of family continues to grow with the addition of six grandchildren. Beth’s passion has always been serving and supporting Christ’s church by loving, ministering and equipping all who enter. In 2002, God graciously led her to her current position first as a volunteer before joining the team permanently in February 2003.

Serving is what Shannon’s heart is all about no matter where that is! Shannon and her husband, David, went on their first mission trip in 2010 to Honduras. That trip created in them a passion to reach others for Christ through missions and they have never looked back. Since joining the ChristWay team, she has been able to help many others follow that calling in their life to share the Gospel in international locations. She enjoys cotton candy, watching movies, eating out and spending time with her husband and their two children, Mikaelyn and Kaleb.
